Women and African Magic

Oghenefego Ofili
If you ask people across Africa what sex they think views African Magic most, the result will tilt more towards the females. I disagree with this perception; just give me some time to convince you. I believe that human beings tend to hide under the prejudices and stereotypes in society. So if the generality of people believe a certain pattern, attention is shifted from the so-called minority group.
I think people believe that women watch African magic more than men because from their experiences, the persons who have told them about a nollywood movie are women. You will rarely find a guy chatting with his colleagues, and then mention a movie he saw on African magic. This does not in any way mean that the men are not watching.
Okay, when the woman is watching African magic on the only TV in the sitting room and her man is there, what is he doing? Reading newspapers I guess. Abeg make una leave that tin! That the guys do not talk about the movies they ‘accidentally’ watched on African magic does not mean they do not watch the channel. I know we women have watched this channel to the point that we know their timetables already but the men shouldn’t be spared abeg lol
I know say you dey wait to talk; oya!
